چکیده

This study evaluated the effect of photobiomodulation therapy (PBMt) before or after a high-intensity resistance exercise (RE) session on muscle oxidative stress. Female Wistar rats were assigned to one following groups: Sham (non-exercised, undergoing placebo-PBMt); NLRE (exercised, PBMt + RE (pre-exercise PBMt); (post-exercise PBMt). The comprised four climbs bearing maximum load with 2 min rest between each climb. An 830-nm aluminum gallium arsenide diode laser (100 mW; 0.028 cm2; 3.57 mW/cm2; 142.8 J/cm2; 4 J; Photon Laser III, DMC, São Paulo, Brazil) was applied 60 s in gastrocnemius muscles. Analyses performed at 24 h RE: lipoperoxidation using malondialdehyde (MDA) and protein oxidation (OP) Western blot. Superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT) glutathione peroxidase (GPx) activity spectrophotometrically assessed. Nitric oxide (NO) level determined by Griess reaction. MDA OP levels significantly higher group. Increased prevented all groups; however, increased only PBMT group had SOD compared other groups. A GPx observed group, CAT reduced RE, without effect. NO unchanged PBMt. Therefore, application section has more potent antioxidant than previous Rats submitted post-RE illustrated prevention as well activity. can attenuate stress induced exercise. evident benefit shows be obtained exercise, which it superoxide dismustase.

Effects of Photobiomodulation Therapy on Oxidative Stress in Muscle Injury Animal Models: A Systematic Review

This systematic review was performed to identify the role of photobiomodulation therapy on experimental muscle injury models linked to induce oxidative stress. EMBASE, PubMed, and CINAHL were searched for studies published from January 2006 to January 2016 in the areas of laser and oxidative stress. Any animal model using photobiomodulation therapy to modulate oxidative stress was included in a...

The effect of resistance exercise on oxidative stress in cardiac and skeletal muscle tissues of streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats

Abstract Background and Objective: It has been shown that oxidative stress increases in diabetes and it has an important role in its development and subsequent complications. Thus, the aim of this study was to investigate the effect of acute resistance exercise on oxidative stress in skeletal muscle and cardiac tissues of streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats. Materials and Methods: Twenty male ...

Prior exercise and antioxidant supplementation: effect on oxidative stress and muscle injury

BACKGROUND Both acute bouts of prior exercise (preconditioning) and antioxidant nutrients have been used in an attempt to attenuate muscle injury or oxidative stress in response to resistance exercise. However, most studies have focused on untrained participants rather than on athletes. The purpose of this work was to determine the independent and combined effects of antioxidant supplementation...

Oxidative stress, exercise, and antioxidant supplementation.

Cells continuously produce free radicals and reactive oxygen species (ROS) as part of metabolic processes. These free radicals are neutralized by an elaborate antioxidant defense system consisting of enzymes such as catalase, superoxide dismutase, glutathione peroxidase, and numerous non-enzymatic antioxidants, including vitamins A, E and C, glutathione, ubiquinone, and flavonoids. Exercise can...
